August Club Day
Sunday 26th August 2007 (Oakleigh Go Kart Racing Club)
Returning to Oakleigh for his fifth race meeting in as many weekends Dylan aimed to build on the improvements he had made in previous four races.
Drawn to start the first race on pole, Dylan lead out the field in light rain hoping to reproduce his from in the rain from the Australasian 'C' Grade Titles. Though jumped at the start by Jason Spencer, Dylan quickly showed why he is rapidly gaining a reputation as a rain master by strongly holding down 2nd place. Though eventually caught by James Sera and relegated to 3rd, Dylan finished Heat 1 strongly putting in the 2nd fastest time of heat and finished almost 9 seconds ahead of fourth place man Franky Costanzo.
Hoping to build on his brilliant 3rd place in Heat 1, Dylan began Heat 2 looking to make some early positions. Unfortunately a combination of setup miscalculations crippled his race and resulted in him finishing in 12th place.
After attempting to revise the setup to cope with what was not a very hot and grippy track, Dylan headed out for Heat 3 in 7th place. On the race start it quickly became apparent though the kart balance had been improved from Heat 2, it was still a long way from ideal. Battling the mishandling kart Dylan, finished in 10th place and gained the consolation of Best 'C' Grade Driver for the class. Additionally the points gained on the day helped Dylan consolidated his top 10 place in the Club Championships, moving into 9th place just 63 points outside of 8th.
After five consecutive race weekends which saw us take some major steps forward and gain our best ever results, we'll be taking a well deserved break.
