April Club Day
Sunday 29th April 2007 (Oakleigh Go-Kart Racing Club)
After a tough Round 1 of the Central City Series, we began the day hoping a better luck; unfortunately as the day turned out it was not to be.
Starting Heat 1 in 4th position on a very wet track, Dylan with a great 1st corner pass moved into 2nd position. Caught on the second lap by Franky Costanzo (3B), Dylan proceeded to spend the majority of the race in a fight for third place with Jason Spencer (24B). Unfortunately one lap from the end suffering from a badly fogging visor and coming under pressure from newly crowned National Champion James Sera, Dylan let a wheel stray onto the grass and in the wet conditions was unable to maintain control and spun out of the race.
Despite starting the reverse grid Heat 2 race in 12th place and having slipped back to 13th on the first corner, Dylan proceeded to put in two flying laps to move from 13th to 6th in the space of a lap. Unfortunately on lap 3, while setting yet another quick lap his kart threw a chain ending his race.
With nothing to be gained by competing in the final race, we packed up and left disappointed not to have anything to show for the superb pace that we had.
