March Club Day
Sunday 17th March 2007 (Oakleigh Go-Kart Racing Club)
Hoping to build on a promising start to the season Dylan began Heat 1 in 5th position and with a great start was able to move up a place into 4th. Defying expectations and his lack of experience, he was able not just hold the position but maintain contact with the lead drivers. Unfortunately Dylan was caught out by a retiring Ash Arora and in taking evasive action to avoid contact slipped back three place to finish in 7th.
Starting in 15th for the reverse grid Heat 2, Dylan faced the tough assignment of fighting his way through some quality drivers in order to guarantee a good starting position for Heat 3. Taking to the assignment with a relish, Dylan successfully negotiated a first turn incident which took out 5 drivers and set out chasing down and passing successive karts to finish in a creditable 8th position.
Rewarded for two great drives, Dylan started in 6th position for the penultimate Heat 3 which was held at night, under lights providing a great atmosphere and posing additional setup challenges. Jumped at the start by Ash Arora, Dylan consolidated to hold down 7th place. Getting stronger through the race, Dylan caught the 6th place Adam Willison but despite some quick laps at the end, he ran out of time to effect a pass.
It was however a superb meet with Dylan finishing the round in 7th place on points, earning him 'Best C-Grade Driver' and a great deal of respect as a driver to watch in the future. With the pace he is currently showing it looks set to be an exciting Round 1 of the Central City Series in Oakleigh on the 24th and 25th March.
